Going to hospital
All medical aid members have access to private hospitals. We cover the costs of planned hospital admissions from your Hospital Benefit. There is no overall limit for hospitalisation.

Let us know if you need to go to hospital
Whenever your doctor plans a hospital admission for you, you must let us know 48 hours before you go to hospital.
You can use HospitalXpress to plan and authorise most admissions and also read the important information that tells you how we will pay for your hospital stay. Log in to plan and authorise your hospital stay.
What must you do before you go to hospital?
•See your doctor. They will decide if it necessary for you to be admitted
•Make sure you know how the accounts from the admitting doctor will be covered
•Choose which hospital you want to be admitted to
•Find out how we cover other healthcare professionals, for example your anesthetist
•You must authorise your hospital admission at least 48 hours before you go in.
Remember: If you don’t authorise your admission, we’ll only pay 70% of the costs we’d normally cover.
